This dress was purchased by Olive Bell from 'Jumbly '78', a celebrity charity jumble sale held in aid of Save the Children sponsored by Women's Own in London, 1978. The dress has remained with the family ever since. The story was featured on the cover of the Evening News and Star, May 6th 1978, and reads: Carlisle housewife Olive Bell will feel like a million dollars when she steps out in a dress she bought on a recent trip to London...'For £60 I think it's a really good buy- you could spend more than that in Carlisle'.
