This Prada coat was a favorite of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's and is one of her most iconic and important pieces. Carolyn personally gifted this coat to Rosemarie Terenzio, John F. Kennedy Jr's assistant and confidant to the couple, during the 1990s.

Rosemarie later gave this a second Prada coat (Lot 4) to her friend, Michele Ammon. She thought that the camel color 'looked great with Michele's blond hair'. The two coats have been cherished and proudly remained in Michele's possession ever since.

Michele fondly recalls Carolyn: 'Carolyn adored Rose, she looked out for her and was so kind with a wicked sense of humor! She used to give us advice and loved our funny dating stories. I remember the George Christmas party. Rose was dancing with John and Carolyn walked over wearing the most stunning wide-legged black pants. She looked incredible and I remember thinking: 'I have to go out and buy some pants just like those!'.

Carolyn is photographed on numerous occasions wearing this example and other variations of the same style, including in black and red tweed. This design is probably pre-collection, Autumn-Winter 1996-97, which featured coats and skirts in a slim silhouette, heavily influenced by designs from the late 1960s-early 70s.
