Footnote: Samuel Winston was a New York retailer who hired famed couturier Charles James circa 1952 to create 30 designs each year. The partnership ended acrimoniously. Similar examples are held within the collection of The Met, accession numbers: 1992.261.2 dated circa 1946 &  2009.300.213a, b dated 1952.

Condition

Area of discoloration approx 2cm long where someone has attempted to clean with watermark surrounding approx 10cm long, centre front bodice. This is not obvious in certain lights but noticeable in others. Faint watermark at front right skirt edge. Otherwise good condition and very fresh.
